Social Software & Happiness

Does social software make you happy?
My friend Alex Kjerluf is a happy guy. And he spends the majority of his time sharing his happiness with
people and helping them learn to be “Happy @ Work“. I asked Alex about happiness, and how happiness is manifested in The Social Age. Rising to the challenge, Alex, an expert on happiness, and Thomas Madsen-Mygdal, an expert on social networks, made this video-riff on the topic of social networks and happiness. Do all of these blogs and social networks and 24-hour public information cycles make you happy? Do you feel more connected to your fellow humans because of them? Here’s what two of my favorite Danes have to say about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Being without the an online social network, to many, would feel like being the kid who didn’t get the invitation to the biggest party of the year. It’s not life threatening, but it can really dampen your spirits if you were wanting to be invited.
I know I’m happier with internet and cell phone… I can be “in the know” and be a part of various gatherings, happenings, events, and just the normal chit-chat. Being a part of those things helps to bring different ideas and perspectives into my life so I feel more rounded and grounded.
I’m happier communicating and social networks make it easier for me.
